While observing a map of the continent of Africa, the outline of a
woman's face appeared to me. I proceeded to design this image.
There are several versions of this theme. My daughter, Nichelle,
suggested the name 'USO' which means face in Swahili. I requested
and received a design copyright.
This 'USO' is crafted from Bronze Metal Clay. The Metal Clay has
Bronze particles suspended in a binder that burns away when fired
leaving Bronze. I outlined this image; made a mold of it and inserted
Bronze Metal Clay. The North, West and Central parts of Africa are repre-
sented by the hair. East and part of South Africa are depicted in the face,
and the neck portrays the Southern part of Africa.
This 'USO' measures 1 3/8 inches x 1 inches x 1.5mm (35mm x 26mm
x 1.5mm). This 'USO' is suspended from a continuous loop of Red Jasper
Pebbles. The Red Jasper necklace is 34 inches long.
